I’d have swapped number 4 for using Meetup.com. Though the coordination is online, it’s a very real world community. Especially if you live in or near a city.

Search to see what local groups you can join where you can add value to the group. If there isn’t one yet, create it.

As with everything though, go with a givers mindset. Photobombing a meetup only to talk about how good you are is never going to be successful.
