Topic bridging gives you a great reason to stay in touch with the people on your list.

A great example is this article looking at the the best & worst states to grow old in. The bridging opportunities are almost endless.

If you live in one of the states mentioned, you can add your own comments or opinions to their findings, whether you agree or disagree. If you’re not in a mentioned state, you can talk about how your state compares or his better than the points they pick up on.

If your book (your business) is directly related to the article (think people in Financial Service, or Elder Care, or Building Service etc in this example) you can comment directly on the reasons where you live are important, and what issue have the biggest impact. If you’re in a completely unrelated area you just have to think a little more creatively about the bridge… ‘I saw this article over the weekend about the best and worst states to grow old in and that got me thinking about the best and worst states to… work with a Florist, or get fit in, or to train as a Dental Nurse…’ There is always a way to bridge.

If it’s hard bridge, you may need to ease back on call to action (keep it classy people), but for a soft bridge, like the Financial Advisors in this example, it may be very useful to close by offering an assessment, checklist, or review to move the conversation forward. A Minimum Viable Commitment.

If you’re a Realtor (or even if you’re not), check out RealEstateBlogIdeas.com & pick a topic and practice bridging.
